Buck is main protagonist of The Call of the Wild. He is part Saint Bernard and part Scottish Shepherd. At first Buck is a pampered dog living in the Santa Clara Valley in California. As the story progresses, Buck changes as he is forced to work as a sled dog in the harsh conditions of the Yukon.

Life In Santa Clara

Buck was living for 4 years in Santa Clara Valley at his owners house, Judge Miller. He was ruler of all house, and unlike other dogs, he was allowed to walk everywhere. He also watch over Alice and Mollie Millers, Judge Miller daughters when they goes for walk. Buck also was taked by Miller sons, when they go in the hunt.

But one night, when Judge Miller was out of town, Manuel, gardener helper taked Buck for walk, but it turn out that Manuel was planning to sell him, to pay for his gembling debt. Buck first don't understod where Manuel brought him.
